D&AD is a member-run, non-profit organisation that exists to stimulate, enable and award creative excellence in design and advertising whilst nurturing and inspiring the next generation of creative talent. The D&AD Professional Awards are recognised globally as the ultimate creative accolade, entered and attended by the best from around the world and D&AD's members join a vibrant global community, whilst creatives and clients are inspired by a world-class Training programme.
D&AD’s existing digital infrastructure had developed organically over a significant period of time without a cohesive and unified technical architecture. Not only did this produce a disjointed digital experience for their customers but also dramatically increased running costs, supporting the disparate systems.
Working closely with the internal teams at D&AD, JP74 were briefed to design and build a strategic, long-term digital platform that would serve both the customers and each of the different business functions for many years to come.
JP74 used their experience in large-scale application development to entirely re-engineer the organisation’s products, client services and operations, for the digital world. This required the implementation of several systems all fully integrated to create one unified platform and digital presence for D&AD. Projects included: integration with the CRM system (Salesforce), two new websites, ecommerce capability, the digitisation of the ever growing D&AD archive, an asset management application fully connected to the entry system for the world famous D&AD Awards, and the design and build of that Awards entry system.
The final digital platform increased revenue through online channels and significantly reduced overheads within the business. For example, the Awards entry system incurred an initial capital outlay of £250K, responsible for an annual income of £3.2M and saving £150K per year in software support costs.
